Electricity and gasoline prices have been high nationwide for several years.
Considering the current global situation, fluctuations in energy costs are expected to continue for some time.
In manufacturing settings, the load on chillers (cooling return water) often fluctuates. For instance, if equipment operation decreases in the morning or afternoon, or if standby operation occurs during lunch breaks or rest periods, conventional constant-speed chillers will continue to consume unnecessary electricity.
By replacing existing chillers with latest inverter-controlled models, significant energy savings can be achieved.
The latest chillers made by Orion Machinery in Japan utilize a triple inverter "TESC system" that simultaneously controls the condenser fan, water pump, and refrigerant compressor, enabling an unprecedented level of energy efficiency. (In contrast, conventional inverter chillers typically control only the refrigerant compressor while pumps and other components operate at a constant speed.)
Please check the energy-saving examples in the usage environment shown in the diagram below. Significant energy-saving effects can be realized in just three years.
We encourage you to replace your existing constant-speed chillers to achieve energy savings.
Control of three motors using inverters:
Refrigerant Compressor---Reduces the circulation of refrigerant during low loads to prevent overcooling.
Air-cooled Condenser Fan---Lowers the fan motor's rotational speed during low loads to reduce unnecessary power consumption.
Pressure Pump---By outputting the precise pressure and flow rate required for circulating cold water, unnecessary bypasses can be avoided.
The comparison simulation of electricity costs between a"constant-speed chiller" and the latest "inverter chiller" is as follows. The operating conditions for the chillers are listed below.
〈Operating Conditions〉
Chiller set water temperature: 20°C
Surrounding installation temperature: 32°C
Average load: 40% of rated capacity
Operating hours: 20 hours/day (300 days/year)
Electricity cost: THB 4.18/kWh
*The power consumption ratio is based on the power consumption (7.6 kW) when the fixed-speed chiller is operated under rated conditions at 60Hz.
Power consumption of the "fixed-speed chiller":
(7.6kW x 0.921) x (20 hours x 300 days) ≒ 42,000 kWh x 4.18B ≒ 175,900 B/year・・・①
Power consumption of the latest "inverter chiller":
(7.6kW x 0.29) x (20 hours x 300 days) ≒ 13,200 kWh x 4.18B ≒ 55,200 B/year・・・②
⇒ From ①-②, the annual difference is 120,700 B
⇒ After 3 years, the savings would amount to 362,100 B
