In cases where multiple air conditioners are operated for dehumidification purposes in unmanned storage spaces at night, energy savings can be achieved by stopping all or some air conditioners and using a smaller number of dedicated dehumidifiers instead.
Have you ever experienced situations where dozens of air conditioners were installed and operated to maintain humidity control (e.g. RH 50–55%) in a product warehouse, but the humidity didn’t drop as expected? Similarly, using air conditioners to maintain a room temperature of 25°C in an unmanned factory during the night may seem wasteful.
In such cases, stopping the air conditioners at night and operating only with fewer dehumidifiers can lead to energy savings. (Dehumidifiers discharge warmer air after removing moisture from the intake air, which tends to slightly increase room temperature.)
Many people may use the "dehumidification mode" on commercial air conditioners, but due to its structure, they do not have the same capacity as dedicated dehumidifiers. Even if the unit has a reheating function, the use of heaters for reheating increases energy consumption.
On the other hand, dedicated dehumidifiers rapidly dehumidify through supercooling and then reheat using internal condenser heat, eliminating unnecessary energy use.

Q: “Why is there little improvement despite installing multiple commercial air conditioners for humidity control?”
A: Many recent commercial air conditioners are equipped with a “dehumidification mode.” However, did you know that the dehumidification method differs between air conditioners and dedicated dehumidifiers? While both use a heat pump with refrigerant, air conditioners cool the evaporator (internal fins of the indoor unit) to the set temperature (e.g., 27°C), and the circulating air is cooled to the set temperature. On the other hand, dedicated dehumidifiers supercool the intake air to the target dew point temperature in the evaporator, condense and remove moisture, and then warm it through a reheater (equivalent to the outdoor unit in air conditioners) before discharging it.
Therefore, there is a significant difference in dehumidification capacity.
